Anal Fistula Treated with Kshar Sutra: A Case Study by Dr. Preeti Paliwal

Patient Profile

  • Age/Sex: 35-year-old male.
  • Medical History: Known case of Diabetes Mellitus (well controlled).
  • Allergies: No known food, drug, or operative allergies.


Chief Complaint

  • Pus discharge from the perianal region.
  • Pain in the anal region.
  • Regular bowel movements, occasionally hard stools.


Clinical Examination

  • Inspection: External opening noted approximately 2 cm from the anal verge at the 6 o’clock position.
  • Digital Rectal Examination: Internal opening identified at the 6 o’clock position.
  • Presence of active pus discharge from the tract.


Diagnosis

  • Anal Fistula.


Treatment Provided

  • Patient was treated with Kshar Sutra Therapy.
  • Weekly Kshar Sutra changes performed (5–6 sittings).


Outcome

  • Complete healing of the fistula tract.
