What’s Fistula:
Fistula in ano is also known as “Bhagander”. It is a infected tube like connection between perianal skin and the anal canal. This develops from anal gland infection. This gland (cryptoglandular infection) becomes infected by different reasons and becomes blocked and hence the pus develops make a route inside the anus whose one opening is around the anus and other outside the anus.
Causes:
Fistulas often develop due to underlying issues such as perianal abscesses, chronic fissures, long-term constipation, or inflammatory conditions like ulcerative colitis.
Symptoms:
Symptoms of a fistula commonly include pus discharge from an opening in the perianal area, persistent anal pain, and swelling near the anus. Many patients also experience recurrent abscesses.
